Clinics

About Our Clinics

We are inviting all our level 4, 5, and 6 students to participate in our inaugural Klim Swim Pre-Squad and Squad program at our new location in Wesley College.

To launch our program, we will be holding a special session with Olympic gold medallist Michael Klim.

We will be running two classes – one 45-minute pre-squad and a 60-minute squad class. In order to participate, we will be conducting swim trial assessments to determine if your child meets the criteria of our squad classes. Please note that there are no caps on the number of students that can be selected and that it will be solely based on meeting the criteria.

Criteria
Pre-squad

Our pre-squad is the first step to prepare students for competitive team swimming. This pre-squad is designed to continue swimmer development on all four strokes to a proficient level. Key swimming etiquette such as competitive turns, pace clock usage, and lane swimming is introduced.

Criteria to participate

Swimmers must be able to display the following skills:

50m backstroke
50m breaststroke
25m dolphin kick
100m freestyle
Timed freestyle: 50m under 1:15 min
All using correct technique, breath timing, and good body position.

Goals: Further development of competitive strokes with a focus on improving skill endurance, aiming for 1.5km per session.

Squad

Our Squad is designed to introduce "training" to more proficient swimmers. This squad will focus on further developing all four competitive strokes with an aim to race. This will be done by increasing the number of repetitions and the introduction of squad drills, pace clock usage, and race skills such as relay changeovers.

Criteria to participate. Swimmers must be able to display the following skills:

100m backstroke
100m breaststroke

Goals: Further development of all four competitive strokes with a focus on improving endurance and speed. Training sessions in distances up to 2.5km

Students who are successful in the assessment will be offered the opportunity to participate in an exclusive swimming clinic with Olympic gold medallist Michael Klim. He will offer a master's perspective on your child's technique to elevate their swimming to the next level!🥇

The 3 most improved students on the day will be rewarded with an Engine gift pack.

All students will also receive a free pair of Engine goggles and a Klim Swim cap.
