PRE SQUAD

Our Pre-Squad is the first step to prepare students for competitive team swimming.

This pre-squad is designed to continue swimmer development on all four strokes to a proficient level. Key swimming etiquette such as competitive turns, pace clock usage and lane swimming is introduced. 

 

Criteria to participate

Swimmers must be able to display the following skills: 

  • 50m backstroke 

  • 50m breaststroke 

  • 25m dolphin kick 

  • 100m freestyle 

  • Timed freestyle: 50 m under 1:15 min  

 

All using correct technique, breath timing and good body position. 

 

Goals

Further development of competitive strokes with a focus on improving skill endurance. Successful completion of training sessions in distances up to 2km.

JUNIOR SQUAD

This junior squad is designed for swimmers looking to train more intensively 3 - 4 times per week, while continuing to develop all four strokes to a proficient level.

Sessions maintain a strong focus on technique, while introducing squad-level training elements such as endurance, pacing, and competition preparation. Key swimming etiquette including competitive turns, pace clock usage, lane swimming, and structured sets is introduced.

Swimmers must be able to display the following skills:

  • 50m backstroke

  • 50m breaststroke

  • 25m dolphin kick

  • 100m freestyle

  • Timed freestyle: 50m under 1:15

SQUAD

Squad is designed to introduce "training" to more proficient swimmers.

This squad will focus on further developing all four competitive strokes whilst increasing the number of repetitions. Basic drill squads, stroke count, pace clocks and further swimming etiquette will be introduced. 

 

Criteria to participate

Swimmers must be able to display the following skills: 

  • 100m backstroke 

  • 100m breaststroke 

  • 50m butterfly 

  • Timed freestyle: 100m under 2:00 min 

 

All using correct technique, breath timing and good body position 

 

Goals

Further development of all four competitive strokes with a focus on improving endurance. Successful completion of training sessions in distances up to 2.5km, and learn relay changeovers.
